Oxfam has called on the UK government to increase taxes on extreme climate-polluting wealth, as the richest individuals and corporations not only produce a large share of emissions but also invest in the most polluting industries, with the richest 1 percent in the UK emitting more carbon pollution in eight days than the poorest 50 percent in a year.
