Kilauea erupted at its summit in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park on Tuesday, prompting the U. S. Geological Survey (USGS) to raise the Volcano Alert Level to Warning and the Aviation Color Code to Red as ash and tephra fell across downwind communities on Hawaii Island, officials said.
